Institute for Education, Seraikela (Affiliated to Kolhan University, Chaibasa, Jharkhand)
1. Legal Foundation
The Institute for Education (IFE), Seraikela was established in the year 2010 under the Educational and Social Development Trust, a registered trust under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882 (Registration No. [Insert Registration Number]) with its registered office at Seraikela, Jharkhand.
The institution functions in accordance with:
• The Jharkhand State Universities Act, 2000, and
• The Statutes, Ordinances, and Regulations of Kolhan University, Chaibasa, to which it is affiliated.
The Institute operates as a non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting quality higher education, research, teacher training, and skill-based development in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and UGC norms.
2. Objectives of the Institution
The objectives of the Institute as laid down in its Memorandum of Association (MoA) are:
1. To establish, manage, and develop institutions for higher education, teacher education, and professional studies.
2. To provide instruction, training, and research in disciplines approved by statutory bodies such as UGC, NCTE, and AICTE.
3. To promote academic excellence, innovation, and quality assurance through continuous evaluation and reform.
4. To organize seminars, workshops, and conferences of national and international importance.
5. To undertake research and extension activities for societal and community development.
6. To introduce value-based, job-oriented, and skill development programs for the youth.
7. To collaborate with national and international institutions for academic exchange and partnership.
8. To maintain transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in all institutional practices.
3. Governing Structure
The Institute functions under a Governing Body constituted as per UGC (Conferment of Autonomous Status upon Colleges and Measures for Maintenance of Standards in Autonomous Colleges) Regulations.
The Governing Body is the highest decision-making authority responsible for policy formulation, financial management, and academic oversight, comprising:
• The Chairperson of the Trust / Management
• Principal of the Institute (Ex-Officio Member Secretary)
• Nominee(s) of the Affiliating University (Kolhan University)
• Nominee of the State Government (if applicable)
• UGC Nominee (as per approval)
• Senior Faculty Members of the Institution
• External Experts and Representatives from Industry/Society
4. Institutional Statutes and Regulations
The institution abides by:
• UGC Regulations (Conferment of Autonomous Status, 2018 and amendments thereof)
• Kolhan University Statutes and Examination Ordinances
• NCTE and AICTE Regulatory Guidelines
• State Government Rules on Higher Education Institutions
The Institute has developed its own academic and administrative regulations under autonomous status, subject to approval by the Governing Body and Academic Council, covering areas such as:
• Admission Policies
• Curriculum Design and Revision
• Examination and Evaluation
• Grievance Redressal Mechanisms
• Research Promotion and Ethics
• Financial Management and Audit
5. Compliance and Transparency
The Institute ensures complete compliance with all UGC, University, and State Government norms.
